Marina Point on Big Bear Lake
Big Bear Lake has been a changing landscape for years, and the shoreline is no different. There are a number of vacation rentals in Big Bear Lake, but it’s a rare opportunity to own a piece of property on the lakefront. Since 1981 Irv Okovita has been trying to create an upscale resort community on the north shore of Big Bear Lake near Grout Bay. His dream includes about 100 condominium units and 10 custom condo sites which is dramatically reduced from the original plans, making the development even more exclusive. The project will also have room for 175 boat slips, a picnic area, fishing facilities, a spa, jetties and a ferry and shuttle service to take residents to The Village. Although they have permission to create a timeshare property, this is a gated community with privately owned condominiums in Big Bear.
The Big Bear Lake vacation rental real estate market has experienced ups and downs through the years, creating delays in development. But the project is back in full swing with careful consideration for the environment and the Big Bear Lake community and shoreline. Upgrades to the infrastructure are in the works before building can begin in the Spring of 2015. Okovita is planning on hiring local workers and veterans for the project and wants to give back to the community. He feels the development will be good for Big Bear in providing additional tax revenue and jobs.
The one of a kind development offers amazing views from the north shore of the mountains and Big Bear Lake. Reservations are being handled by Mark Sobczyk of FirstTeam Real Estate and are currently in the “yellow” phase. Buyers can put down a deposit for a lot in the subdivision that will enter them into a binding agreement subject to buyer approval after receipt, examination and acceptance of the Final Public Report.
