Big Bear Wind and Rain Storms
From time to time Big Bear will experience major Wind and Rain storms that can turn into snow storms. Although not common they can happen at any time during the winter months. We have found that flooding can occur throughout the Big Bear Valley causing delays in travel along with some messy conditions. Messy conditions include rain, mud, sleet, snow and icy roads. Please drive slow and watch for falling debris. The Good News, this usually means great snow on the way !! You can always get the latest Big Bear Weather forecast here
Big Bear Cabin Leaks
During these times some cabins may experience leaking. It may not be possible to correct these issues during the time that it occurs due to wet conditions. If rain is falling and Big Bear has high winds rain can find its way into a home that may not be normal. Sideways wind can cause windows to leak and roof lines. These leaks usually do not last that long and do stop once the temperatures falls or the winds subside. Unfortunately, It is not possible to have roof contractors try to locate the source of the leak during a storm. Instead these contractors can inspect and possibly repair during dryer conditions. If it is extreme we may only have the choice of putting down a large receptacle, or move you or cancel the booking.
All leaks are not equal 😉 –
We can not solve or repair leaks that are dripping during your stay; however if there is a major leak (not a drip but running water) and you feel you need to be moved may be difficult. We can not assure the next cabin does not have a leak, also during peak rental periods we may not have any cabins available. We may have to have to cancel the booking altogether if you feel it is necessary. The good news is when this happens it usually means a great winter storm is approaching and we end up with incredible snow :).
Please be safe, be especially tuned into your surroundings as the day becomes night and the temperatures fall. Wet roads and walkways turn to ice and you can not tell the difference. The entire town including grocery stores, the village, and all walkways can become very icy.
