Big Bear Workforce Housing Initiative
Since exploding into a vacation town, Big Bear is now facing a housing shortage for our workforce. In lieu of this issue, The Vacation Rental industry has banded together and is collecting a .5% volunteer tax on every booking done. These dollars will be paid to Big Bear Workforce Housing Initiative, a local non-profit organization, each quarter. Big Bear Workforce Housing Initiative will be in charge of disbursing the money to home owners quarterly through a steering committee. These funds will be used to pay renters application fees amongst other fees and costs. To aid in fixing this issue we are reaching out to non-occupied homeowners about turning their vacation rental into a full-time rental. Destination Big Bear is now providing the option to turn your home into a full-time rental with us. Over the years Big Bear has expanded into a major vacation town. This has caused our full-time rental homes to diminish greatly. Due to this shortage in homes for our workforce here in Big Bear, we’ve decided to provide our owners with the opportunity to turn their home into a full-time rental and since we already manage your home as a vacation rental, the process is very simple. We have an extensive list of renters, including Destination Big Bear’s own staff, ready to apply and move in!

You may qualify to receive for a grant from $1000 to $5,000 a year from Big Bear Workforce Initiative, made possible by the Vacation Rental Industry along with other local businesses.

Renting Full-Time to Destination Big Bear Staff?
- We cover the utilities in our own name.
- We take care of any maintenance issues that may arise at your property.
- We handle cleaning the property in between tenants.

Current Big Bear Full Time Rentals
These homeowners are interested in full time rentals ranging from $2000 to $2500 for 6 months to one year lease. In many cases they are furnished. Renters responsible for all utilities and snow removal. Some homes do have access to the garages.
Renters will be signing leases directly with homeowners using the California Association of Realtors contract. Destination Big Bear does not take any fees for connecting homeowners to potential renters.
