Early Snowfall hits Big Bear
Now that snow is on the ground, the fun will abound! As the first storm has rolled through, evidence of Fall and Winter tops the mountainous horizon of Southern California. Sure, temps may have been in the 80’s and even low 90’s just last week. But, here in Big Bear this week, Summer weather is long gone. We were left with over 10 inches of snow in our first dusting, with both ski resorts continuing to crank out the powder. And, we’re just getting started!
With fresh snow blanketing the rooftops and sidewalks, the Holiday Spirit is sure to haunt. Big Bear is definitely the place to be to indulge in a plethora of Holiday festivities. With live entertainment, hot cocoa and hot coffee, Christmas carols, tons of shopping, loads of snow play, and so much more, you really need to spend a week or two to quench the spirit!
Wonderland or not, Winter is here. Temps are dipping and providing ideal conditions as we keep a close eye on the local ski resorts here. I’m sure mother nature is already spawning the next snow dump. Meanwhile, powder production is steady to provide plenty of play for opening day. The wait for that day, however, is over. Bear Mountain and Snow Summit will be open to the public as of Friday, November 20th. But, if you have a season pass you can hit the slopes a couple of days early.
Running laps on the slopes is just an annual tradition for many. What are some of your holiday rituals? Do you build gingerbread houses with the family? Maybe you enjoy preparing a certain food\dish every year to watch others revel in. Or, possibly your family ventures out to see lights and decorations around your favorite neighborhood. Don’t forget an advent calendar for the kids! Whatever your holiday customs entail each year, here at DBB, we wish you and your family all the joy possible, wrapped in safety and health, and a cup of good cheer.
