The Siberia Creek Trail shares a trailhead with the Champion Lodgepole Pine Trail on Forest Service Road 2N11 off Forest Service Road 2N10. It is 6.8 miles to Bear Creek. The trail is rated strenuous when passable. However, in recent years including the 2012 season, the trail is only maintained 1.5 miles to “Gunsight” and rated easy. The “Gunsight” rock formation is two huge boulders so named because they resemble the rear sights of a rifle. Southern views are spectacular including the Saddleback Mountain above Lake Elsinore and Mt Palomar. There is even a chance for a rare glimpse of the ocean on a very clear day.
Unfortunately approximately .8mi past Gunsight the trail is overgrown with heavy brush fields making it impossible to reach Bear Creek by this route.
The two open and maintained trails descending to Bear Creek are the Camp Creek Trail #1W09 East of Snow Valley Ski Resort on State Hwy 18 or the Glory Ridge Trail #1W02 just West of the Big Bear Dam off Hwy 18 and Forest Service Road 2N15.
